Negli anni ha collaborato con diverse istituzioni internazionali (Department of Mechanical Engineering e Center for Fundamental Materials Research della Michigan State University, Department of Materials Science della Catholic University of Leuven, Belgio, la Technical University of Athens, Grecia e la Technical University of Lublin, Polonia).

Davide Bernardini is Associate Professor at the Department of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering of the University of Rome Sapienza, Italy, where he earned his M. Sc. in Civil Engineering cum laude in 1995 and his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering, in 1999.

Since 2001 teaches classes in structural mechanics and mechanics of materials at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Rome Sapienza.
He is author of more than 80 scientific publications in international journals, peer-reviewed book chapters and proceedings of international conferences, as well as of 2 didactic books on structural mechanics.

His main research activities are in the fields of thermomechanics of materials, structural health monitoring of bridges and buildings, modeling of the effects of corrosion in reinforced concrete elements, structural dynamics, modeling and applications of Shape Memory Materials.

Further research interests include: the micromechanical derivation of macroscopic constitutive equations, structural health monitoring, the application of Shape Memory Materials to vibration reduction, the mathematical modeling of hysteresis, the applications of category theory to the mathematical foundations of continuum mechanics.

Over the years he cooperated with several international institutions (Department of Mechanical Engineering and Center for Fundamental Materials Research of Michigan State University, USA, Department of Materials Science of the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, Technical University of Athens, Greece, Technical University of Lublin, Poland).
