RESEARCH & PUBLICATIONS
The research of Marco Buratti focuses on the algebraic characterization of combinatorial designs and the development of structural methods to address open problems in the field. His work aims at connecting design theory and algebra with applications in coding and communications, contributing to place the study of difference families on a systematic algebraic framework. Among his methodological contributions is a self-contained construction for rotational k-cycle systems of order v < 3k (J. Combin. Des., 2003), which offered an alternative and distinct approach to the general existence problem for odd cycle systems.
He has authored 115 refereed papers (including 38 publications as a sole author, mostly concentrated in the first half of his career) and 5 book chapters, including an invited contribution to the Handbook of Combinatorial Designs.
Keywords: Combinatorial Designs; Difference Families; Cycle Systems; Codes; Groups; Finite fields.
