Upon completion of the course the student must know the concepts of biocompatibility, toxicity and structure of the subject. Particular attention is given to the chemical-physical properties of dental materials, their constitution and application methods. The acquisition of the above-mentioned knowledge plays a decisive role in the choice of dental materials to be used and in their response to the stresses to which they are subjected in the oral cavity. All this will allow the student to acquire knowledge on the constitution and properties of all dental materials in the perspective of their professional application. Reference is made to the materials used in every field of dentistry and specifically to the conservative dentistry, periodontics, surgery, implantology and orthodontics, developing and processing the notions necessary for the completion of the dental hygienist profession.
Upon completion of the course the student must be able to autonomously organize both the knowledge acquired by exploiting the comprehension skills achieved by the individual study, and the operating techniques necessary for the application and use of dental materials in the exercise of the profession of Dental hygienist .
