- connections between social exclusion and insecurity, with particular reference to urban contexts and urban security policies. 
- how to read data on decisive contexts for social inclusion / exclusion processes (labor market, income, school, health, penal system, etc.), exploring social categories at risk, identifying issues and areas of intervention 
- how to identify the dimensions (social, economic, cultural, political, demographic) affecting social insecurity 
- To be able to deconstruct social problems of exclusion, also through classroom discussions, stimulated, as well as by the exam texts, by participation in seminars and by watching movies in the classroom.  
To stimulate students' communication skills, the course organizes ad hoc meetings for the vision of films and documentaries where attending students are invited to comment the films in light of the concepts learned during the course. 
The course, which is at the end of the three-year degree in social service, aims to provide students with a competent and complex approach to the issues of social inclusion, in order not only to acquire theoretical approaches and policy models, but also to be able to move between the main databases concerning social security issues. In this sense, the course offers skills both for future professionals of social work, and for master courses, especially in the field of management and evaluation of social services.
