The course explores the concept of work and organization in sociology.
In particular, we study: the birth of the sociology of work, the main theories of sociology of organization, the industrial question, Taylor and Ford, Human Relations, the socio-technical approach, the socio-analytical approach, the systemic, post-Fordism, bureaucracy, flexibility and precariousness.
The main approaches to motivation theories, soft approaches to organizations: sense making and giving meaning.
The methodologies and tools for qualitative investigation of organizational cultures and the models of study and change of organizational cultures are studied in depth with particular reference to the models of change of cultural dynamics (Lewin and Mary Hatch) and to organizational development strategies centered on the person: empowerment and organizational development, empowerment and leadership styles.
