Objectives

The course aims specific teaching methods and tools to "read, see, draw" the architectural space in order to stimulate the geometric intuition of the student-engineer / architect and provide appropriate tools is to represent the spatial configurations that solve geometric problems and relational. To achieve this objective, the course offers the study of methods of descriptive geometry, theory of vision,of color and the basic concepts of computer design.

Learning outcomes

After completing this course provides an examination and discussion of graphic works to assess the understanding and representation of geometric space and architecture, the resolution is required in the classroom through computer drawing of a geometrical problem about one of representation methods studied.

Prerequisites

No particular prerequisites are required other than knowledge of elementary geometry.

Programme

The course of Architecture Drawing I provides the student with the technical and cultural tools to read, understand and represent space anthropic in the urban and architectonic scale. This training process takes account of the inseparable relationship between architecture and design based on the one hand on the appropriate use of methods of representation on the other component of communicative graphic language.
The course is therefore to provide the scientific basis of the graphic language not only as a fundamental means of communication in architecture but also as a means of education for spatial vision of architectural forms and their control metric.

Lessons mode

The course lasts one semester. The lessons are organized by developing the more strictly theoretical aspects of the discipline, alternating them with applied ones, largely to be started in the classroom. Halfway through the course, an architectural theme full of problems relating to the interpenetration and aggregation of solids is proposed; theme which becomes the subject of appropriate graphic works which will constitute discussion for the final exam. The works are written both in pencil and in digital format on A3 paper. Some thematic seminars on topics related to drawing are also planned. The course will be developed in three teaching cycles in which the following topics will mainly be developed: descriptive geometry, the representation of architecture and computer drawing.

Frequency

Theoretical lessons without mandatory attendance but strongly recommended. Laboratory with mandatory attendance.

Exam mode

The exam consists of the presentation of the graphic works required during the course and the classroom resolution of a descriptive geometry exercise at Cad.
In the presentation of the works, the property of language and use of terms specific to graphic language and visual communication will also be evaluated.
The student's CV will be evaluated during the course and his participation in the laboratory activities.
