Single channel

Chair (Coordinator) and Rapporteur: ENZO BACCARELLI

Objectives

1.GOAL OF THE COURSE
Goal of this course is to describe the behaviour and evaluate the performance of the main components (e.g., functional blocks) constituting the analogue and digital communication systems and the packet-switched data networks.
2. Expected results
It is expected that the attending students will acquire the basic notions about architectures and related performance of both analogue and digital the TLC systems. A good underground of analogue and digital signal processing is demanded.
3. Required background
A good background on Signal Processing in the continuous-time and discrete-time domains is required.

Learning outcomes

The acquired skills would allow the student to be capable to carry out a basic performance analyisis of the point-to-point analog/digital communication systems that are affeted by noise and channel distorsions.

Prerequisites

Courses of first two years in Information Engineering.
In particular, Signal Theory.

Lessons mode

Lesson method: lessons in classroom
The requiring students are reiceved in presence.

Frequency

The attention is recommended.
Four lessons per week

Exam mode

A single test in classooom of two hours of duration. The test is composed by five open questions. The maximum score of each open question is 6/30th. The test target is the evaluation of the skills acquired by the attending students.
