Educational objectives The Course aims to analyze the history of drawing – in the wide spread of techniques and typologies – joining the experience on the works with the critical examination of the literary sources and underlining the unity among technique, style and function.
After completing this course students shall have to be able to place the works of art which have been analyzed during lessons in the right historical-critical context and they must also be able to draw up specific studies and historical-artistic reports concerning the typology of works together with the examined time.
Methodological and bibliographic supports will be supplied so that students can autonomously study in depth art-works by recognizing their chronology, draughtsmanship, provenance and style.
It will be offered the opportunity to verify the acquired abilities and at the same time the application and communication skills by devoting a few hours to a kind of flipped classroom which will conclude with a simulation that contemplates role play just in order to stimulate autonomy, making judgment and actual application of acquired knowledge.

Educational objectives The course aims to provide students with a knowledge of gothic illumination, with special focus on style and iconography, on issues of patronage, on the context and techniques of production. Special attention will be given to the relationship between illumination and monumental painting, but also to other 14th century techniques of artistic production.
Students will be introduced to methods to correctly understand the interconnection between patronage and the function of illuminated books and to examine iconographic programmes within the historical context of production. Among the foreseen outcomes is a knowledge of the different types of illuminated books used in these contexts, both liturgical and secular, and of their distinctive features.
During the course students will acquire the ability to recognize illuminated manuscripts pertaining to the contexts considered in the module, to become familiar with the main artists and contexts considered and to analyze illumination using the specific terminology. This expected outcome will be the consequence of the interaction between the knowledge taught during the course and the further reading suggestions which will be provided in class.
The knowledge of illuminated books will allow them to acquire a more in-depth knowledge of artists working in the 14th century, in particular in Italy and beyond the Alps.
During the classes and the study visits time will be dedicated to seminarial activities, during which the students will be encouraged to actively take part and exercise in commenting and interpreting the analyzed images.
During the course suggestions for further reading will be systematically provided to enable students to gain an autonomous in-depth knowledge of the issues discussed during classes.

Educational objectives The Course is a structured discussion of the issues and problems which are specific to the discipline of Documentation. A special focus, both theorical and practical, will be dedicated to illustrating functions and policies of databases. Moreover, considering the history of Information Retrieval (since the Sixties) will give the opportunity to stress on the role of database as authoritative sources for the scholarly communication.
Books and articles of the pioneers of computer Science will also be read and analyzed. In fact, the “literary corpus” of Informatics must be revealed in all its cultural aspects.
First aim: Cultural history of information technology and communications (ITC). Comparison with other near disciplinary fields related to traditional institutions such as archives and libraries. (historical and critical approach)
Second aim: improving Information literacy. Digital libraries will be considered as the main focus of study, both in the perspective of a “general user” and, further on, to give the students the best potentiality for seeking a job in the area of digital curator or advanced librarian.
Third aim: enhance autonomous and critical capacities. Methodological approaches offered during the course: Structutralism, Cultural Studies, Comparative Studies.
Further expected results: an autonomous approach to the field of Digital libraries and digital heritage.
Google’s algorithm PageRank will be a case study particularly important. The success of Google both as a “narration” and as a “market strategy”, as well as a user-friendly and extremely efficient tool of retrieval, will give the opportunity of considering the disciplinary field of Documentation at every levels: from the practical-technical aspects to the professional ones. A second case study will be ACO the algorithm well known for the use in Amazon (“suggestions” for other books to buy). Starting from technical aspects of the algorithm itself, the students will be invited to consider cultural effects, mainly related to the risk of a monopolistic use of the book market.

Educational objectives The Course has the general objective of presenting the main themes of General Didactics with particular reference to their application to educational contexts aimed at children in the 0-3 age range and their families.
The reflection is placed in a current dimension with reference to both research and action and in the broader dimension, the course intends to introduce the general issues and problems of the subject starting from its epistemological status, examining in particular the teaching relationship with other educational sciences.
Starting from a brief historical introduction of the discipline, the main problems of didactic research in its various contexts and the relationship between theory and practice will be examined.
In particular, theories and methodologies will be presented to plan, plan and implement effective educational interventions in educational contexts, with particular reference to those for early childhood (Nests, playrooms, etc.). A part of the course will be dedicated to laboratory activities aimed at the drafting of an educational project for the Nest or other educational service for young children and their families (Spaces together, Centers for children and parents, etc.).
Once the course is completed the students and students will have acquired knowledge about the main topics of general education starting from its epistemological status and the relationship with the educational sciences. They will also have acquired knowledge of theories and models of learning and teaching, particularly in the context of early childhood and personal help (family homes, reception centers for minors, etc.). Students and students will have a basic knowledge of the principles of communication and educational planning with particular reference to the planning and documentation of activities aimed at children in the 0-3 age range and the different forms of educational documentation that can be used in the nursery school. They will also have acquired the ability to understand the contexts of action of educators and educators, to observe and evaluate the quality of educational services aimed at young children and their families.
The activities of study, reflection, presentation and design will support the students in acquiring the specialized technical language of teaching. At the end of the course the students and students will have refined the ability to express themselves clearly taking into account the recipient, especially when these coincide with young children and their families. They will have also improved the ability to express themselves in writing, and to draw up documentation and educational projects for children in the 0-3 age range.
All the activities carried out during the course will converge in the general improvement of the ability to learn, which is realized in this case not only in the ability to read texts and documents of teaching, but also in knowing how to collect, interpret and reflect on problems and data related to the field of study of teaching, proving to possess scientific attitude and critical and self-critical skills.
