Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, the student must know:
1) Normal growth, development and behavior and their assessment, as well as approaches to abnormalities from infancy through adolescence
2) Health maintenance and preventive care for children
3) The most common acute and chronic pediatric pathological conditions

Prerequisites

A basic knowledge of medical pathology and pharmacology is required.

Purpose of pediatrics
Preventive and social pediatrics
Newborn screening
Neonatology and neonatal pathology (low birth weight, preterm, small for gestational age, post-term)
Nutrition (requirements, metabolism, breastfeeding, weaning)
Vaccinations (schedule of mandatory and recommended vaccinations), contraindications, side effects
Common childhood infectious diseases and their prevention
Puberty development and its abnormalities
Congenital heart disease
Respiratory diseases
Gastrointestinal diseases
Renal diseases
Hematopoietic system diseases
Diabetes mellitus
Allergic diseases
