The course deals with the general aspects related to emergency medicine and the importance of the precocious intervention: assessment of vital signs, CPR (BLS - "Basic Life Support"). Methods of approach and first treatment of surgical critical patients.

Module:
Upon completion of the course the student must know the main problems of the patients affected by the surgical pathologies treated in the program and be oriented on the epidemiology and the pathophysiology of these pathologies. In addition, the student must know the main clinical-instrumental procedures for the diagnostic assessment and, based on the learning of the latter, must know how to make a correct differential diagnosis with the main pathologies. Finally the student must know how to make a correct therapeutic strategy of the pathologies treated.

Acquisition of knowledge about internal medicine with particular reference to the correlations between systemic diseases and the oral health.

Acquisition of knowledge about general pharmacology with particular reference to drugs for the treatment of osteoporosis, anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs, adverse reactions that can occur within the oral cavity following the intake of drugs. Acquisition of skills regarding the reporting of the aforementioned adverse reactions to AIFA.

The student must demonstrate that he has acquired sufficient knowledge of the topics covered in the program, a basic knowledge about the anatomy and physiology inherent in the treated organs and apparatus and be able to fully and consistently show the topics of the final exam. . To achieve a score of 30/30 cum laude, the student must demonstrate that he has acquired excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course, being able to link them in a logical and consistent way. The final exam will take place at the end of the course, with an overall evaluation, and includes a final oral exam concerning each module of teaching of the integrated course, which concur in the same way in the determination of the final grade. For the purposes of the evaluation, the frequency, active participation and autonomous reasoning and study capacity will be examined.
