Objectives
At the end of the course the student must know the basic elements of connection between medicine and law and acquire knowledge about different risk factors and occupational diseases in the health professions also in relation to the regulations in force.
Upon completion of the course the student must know how to carry out the professional activity in compliance with the legal rules and be aware of the main ones deontological obligations in force in the profession.

At the end of this course students must be able to observe micro-organisms through microscope, and to distinguish between the various routes of infectious disease transmission.
Module:
At the end of the course students must know and control the most important occupational diseases. Specifically, the infectious diseases for which dental hygienists and patients are at risk during daily practice.
At the end of the course students must be able to prevent the aforementioned occupational diseases.

Know the characteristics and effects of ionizing radiation, methods and measuring instruments in Radiotherapy and Radiation Protection
Know the current legislation on the radiation protection of operators and patients
Know indications and contraindications of diagnostic imaging tests
Know the general principles of imaging techniques for diagnostic purposes using ionizing radiation, ultrasound, magnetic fields and radio frequencies

* General characteristics of infectious diseases. Epidemiology and prevention of infectious diseases;
* Epidemiological chain of infectious diseases;
* Foodborne and waterborne infections;
* Airborne infections;
* Bloodborne infections;
Infectious diseases at high risk of transmission in the dental health care setting: Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis delta, AIDS, Covid-19, Tuberculosis, Influenza, Meningitis, Varicella, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, infection from methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Emergent infectious diseases could be also discussed in the event that the risk for their transmission in the dental health care setting is high or that they are pandemic.

The exam will consist of a written quiz test on topics covered during the lessons. Following the passing of this test, in the oral exam the written paper will be commented with the request for any further details of the topics covered by the candidate.
The student who has obtained an evaluation greater than or equal to 18 in the written test can also request to take an oral exam.
The oral exam can also be requested by the teacher for reasons related to the evaluation of the written test.
