Concept of health and disease.
Epidemiology of infectious diseases.
Chain of infection, sources and reservoirs of infection, pathways for eradications and modes of transmission.
Host-parasite interactions.
Prophylaxis of infectious diseases: prevention at primary, secondary and tertiary level.
Notification, detection, isolation, and epidemiological investigation. Sterilization. Disinfection. Active and passive immune prophylaxis.
Hospital infections: definition, epidemiology, main control measures and prevention.
