HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT
Environment - human health relationship. Concepts, applicability and limits of Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI). Study methodologies for human health risk assessment related to the exposure to environmental contaminants (3 hours)

Problems related to outdoor air quality. Air pollution and related adverse effects on human health. Strategies for air pollution control (3 hours)

Problems associated to indoor occupational and non-occupational environments. Indoor environmental pollution. Prevention in occupational settings: physical and chemical risks, threshold limit values(TLVs) (3 hours)

Problems related to drinking water. General characteristics of drinking water, drinking water quality standards and outline of relative legislation (3 hours)

Problems related to solid wastes and wastewater. Solid waste collection, removal and disposal. Wastewater: composition and characteristics. Removal and disposal (6 hours)

Food hygiene. Food as a risk factor and as a prevention strategy. Food-related infectious disease. Strategies for preventing food contamination (production, storage, distribution and HACCP system) (6 hours)

Changing health needs and the resulting sustainability of health systems will be analyzed. In particular, the demand for health will be studied in correlation with the socioeconomic development of countries, income distribution, and trade determinants. Then the topic of universal health coverage, health systems, health inequalities and interventions to resolve inequalities will be explored.

Written exam: six multiple choice questions and one out of three open questions that require an articulated answer with verbal, graphic, and analytical expressions. An oral exam will follow.
This examination method allows you to verify both the provisions of the Dublin Descriptors 1 and 2 and the mastery of the language and clarity of presentation.
The time available for the written exam is 50 minutes. The weight of the tests constitutes respectively 50% of the final result.
