The Clinical Pathology laboratory, history and general aspects. The different branches and diagnostic specializations of the laboratory such as clinical chemistry, serology, hematology, clinical microbiology, genetics and immunohaematology. Understanding the concept of analytical reproducibility, quality control and analytical error. Pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical work phases. Blood count, blood cells and their meaning in normal and pathological conditions. Coagulation. Plasma proteins and interpretation of electrophoretic diagrams.
