Module: GENERAL PATHOLOGY
The General Pathology module aims to provide the basic knowledge to make the student able to understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate pathological processes in humans. The aim of the knowledge of the etiopathogenetic bases of diseases and pathological processes constitutes the indispensable substrate for understanding how to find solutions to everyday and professional problems by intervening for preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, palliative and complementary purposes.



Module: CLINICAL PATHOLOGY

The Clinical Pathology module aims to provide the basic knowledge to make the student able to understand the operational logic and the general organization of the analysis laboratory. Understand the potential and limits of the information produced by this and be able to integrate the information obtained from the laboratory in the diagnostic process with the molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate pathological processes in humans.

Defenses of the organism against etiologic agents of diseases: immune response and acute and chronic inflammation. Healing of wounds. Physiopathology of fever. Hyperthermias and non-febrile hypothermia. Tumors: classification, invasiveness, metastasis. Molecular basis of cell transformation: carcinogenesis, concept of oncogene and antioncogene.

The assessment of knowledge will be verified through an oral interview, during which the candidate must demonstrate that he has acquired the knowledge and ability to critically interpret the topics and problems taken into consideration during the course.
To pass the exam it is necessary to achieve a score of no less than 18/30. To achieve a score of 30/30 cum laude, the student must demonstrate that he has acquired excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course, being able to connect them in a logical and coherent way, explaining the topics clearly and with appropriate terminology.
