Objectives
The general educational objective of the DESIGN AND GRAPHIC LANGUAGES STUDIO is to allow students to acquire the theoretical-critical knowledge and specific skills for a correct approach to the production of images for the definition of a visual communication project.
To this end, the lectures and the exercises have the same purpose: to deepen, even by exercising them, some of the peculiarities of graphic-visual languages, framing them in the critical context of some of the central issues and problems underlying contemporary visual culture.
At the end of the course the student will be able to use graphic languages to communicate ideas, images, data, information, concepts and projects, framing them in the historical-theoretical context of reference and knowing how to select the most suitable tools, techniques, methods and strategies appropriate.
To achieve the educational objectives, the course is divided into lectures, seminars and exercises prepared in relation to the various topics of a theoretical, methodological, technical and operational nature.
In particular, the course is characterized by the continuous relationship and correspondence between the analytical-cognitive moment and the experimental one. Therefore, also the strong operational and instrumental component that characterizes it is always framed in the light of the main theoretical questions and the necessary critical analysis.
This approach allows students to be accompanied in the process of consolidating and refining those knowledge and skills in the field of visual culture, also with reference to the new visual languages introduced by new media and the most recent digital technologies.
During the exam, learning will be verified on the set of exercises produced and on the effective knowledge and mastery of the main topics covered and addressed during the course.
