Traditions and elegiac forms in German literature.

The course, based on the close reading of texts and forms of mainly elegiac German poetry from the 18th to the 20th century, questions the perception of the forms of nature and landscape and the awareness of its appearance, from the end of the 18th century onwards, as a phenomenon of reconstruction or a ‘sentimental’ place in which loss is manifested. We follow a thread that traces the perido of the sense - not only poetic - of the end of a world, the end of a landscape in relation to thresholds of passage and epochal crises linked to human and ‘natural’ history. The writing of nature is to be understood as an objective and subjective genitive. It manifests itself as a literary phenomenon and theme, is articulated in aesthetic vision and perception through forms, but is inscribed in writing with its own structures and crises, recognisable even in its formal and rhythmic organisation.
