Objectives

The course course aims to train managerial professionals which are able to hold positions of responsibility within both the public and private health structures.
The course aims to provide students an overview of the economic operative methods that the management operating in these organizations must be able to use for a proper practice of the profession.
At the end of the course, students must be able to link the empirical evidence to the most widespread economic models of the real economy. Furthermore, students have to be able to recognize the relevant dynamics which is characterizing the management of a health business organization and be able to formulate strategic hypotheses to solve business critical issues.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student must know the fundamental regulations governing the rights and duties of employees and understand the regulatory and organizational framework of the National Health Service.
They must be able to analyze the economic–business aspects and organizational models of health services, as well as understand the impact of social and cultural norms on communication and on the relationship between the patient and the healthcare facility.

The program is divided into a first part of general reference training:

A second part of in-depth analysis of the National Health System:

· Art 32 of the Constitution,

· Law 833/78 birth of the NHS. Principles of Solidarity and Universalism,

· Evolution of the NHS from Management Committees to Local Health Authorities,

· Amendment of Title V law 3/01,

· Concept of LEA and LEPS,

· Needs and Offer Analysis,

· Planning and Budgeting of Local Health Authorities,

· Performance and Evaluation,

· Financing

Search of data and documentary sources on the net
This module will address the issue of searching for information and documents from appropriate sources. Such a simple problem, useful also for assessing and adjusting the practical skills of the students, is particularly important in the profile of many professionals aiming at continuous updates, following the evolution of their own discipline and the technologies supporting their activities.
Data organization and processing
Using common office automation tools - in particular, the spreadsheet - simple techniques to organize and exploit data will be proposed, satisfying the needs arising from professional practice.

Lectures with possible practical exercises, case studies, and guided discussions.

Frequency

According to the Degree Program’s Academic Regulations, students are required to attend all the educational activities included in the study plan, both theoretical and practical. In order to take the exam for each course, students must have attended at least 75% of the scheduled instructional hours.

Exam mode

Written exam consisting of multiple-choice and/or open-ended questions, or an oral examination at the instructor’s discretion.
The assessment is expressed on a scale of thirty points.
