Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
• Describe the organization of dietetics and clinical nutrition services;
• Identify the role and responsibilities of the dietitian in various healthcare settings;
• Understand the principles of quality and safety in dietetic services;
• Know the regulatory, organizational, and ethical aspects of the profession;
• Develop competencies in Clinical Pathology;
• Apply laboratory tests used in the study of major human diseases;
• Evaluate and interpret laboratory results with particular attention on conditions related to nutrition;
• Obtain basic notions on health information systems.
• Obtain basic knowledge about epidemiological studies (descriptive, analytical, and experimental); prevalent and incident morbidity, mortality; endemic and epidemic
distribution; measures of association and risk estimation, screening tests; indicators and epidemiological procedures for assessing food consumption, malnutrition and related diseases, and eating behavior disorders; critical analysis of epidemiological studies; economic and anthropological geography applied to nutrition.
Prerequisites
knowledge of Biochemistry, Physiology, Immunology, and General Pathology. Skills related to human nutrition, hygiene and dietetic therapy;
