The course aims at providing a basic psychophysiological training for healthy disordered ageing, integrating biological, physiological, cognitive and geriatric perspectives. Moreover, the course aims at stimulating the critical reasoning about psychophysiological methods and techniques and specific for this age and at supporting the dialog across different professionals (like, for instance, psychologists, geriatrics, nurses, etc). Attention will also be devoted to the broad areas of biological bases of behaviour, within a mind-body perspective; psychophysiological indices of vigilance; psychopharmacology; sleep-wake regulation, and disorders; active lifestyle, cognitive reserve and potentiation.

Module: Psychophysiology of aging
The course is intended to deepen the basic psychophysiological preparation relating to healthy aging and disorders associated with aging, integrating biological, physiological and cognitive points of view related to senescence. It intends to stimulate reflection on specific methods and techniques of psychophysiology and to support dialogue between different professional figures such as psychologists, geriatric doctors, socio-health professionals in relation to this phase of the life cycle. Attention will also be dedicated to the psychophysiological indicators of vigilance, psychopharmacology, the regulation of the sleep-wake rhythm, sleep disorders, which impact the active lifestyle with cognitive reserve and cognitive enhancement activities, aimed at successful aging.

t is considered necessary for the student to have a basic preparation on medical topics which, although not possessed by medical graduates, offer the basis for knowledge of biology and psychology of adulthood aimed at deepening knowledge of medical culture in students who want to deepen knowledge of medicine, of the main themes that involve the varied universe of frailties and the geriatric methodological approach through the multidimensional evaluation which constitutes the methodological model that can also be used in this area of study of the elderly.

The course is divided into scheduled lectures and practical exercises at geriatrics clinics and seminars chosen by the students on topics complementary to the topics covered during the lessons. Furthermore, the possibility of access to the Alzheimer's Day Center is offered with internship activities aimed at patients, caregivers and family members of subjects with neurocognitive deficits.
