Educational objectives This course aims at improving and practicing in French Language the four communication skills according to the European Common Frame of Reference (ECFR) as follows :
- Level B1 for speaking and writing ;
- Level B2 for listening and reading.
The knowledge acquired by the student will be focused on the use of French in specialised and professional contexts such as economics, geopolitics and tourism.
The acquired skills will be the following :
- ability to communicate, to present arguments and to describe facts, ideas or experiences ;
- ability to deal with lexico-grammatical features of current French and specialised French as well as French for Specific Purposes ;
- ability to identify linguistic and communicative strategies in oral and written texts and reproduce them in writing or speaking.

Educational objectives Programme objectives correspond to those established for the C1 level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages document. Attainment targets comprise the following linguistic competences. On completion of the course, a C1 level student should possess the following competences:
C1 - Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicit meaning. Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.
In line with the curricula of the Faculty courses, teaching at C1 level is based on the analysis (comprehension, interpretation and discussion) of an extensive variety of texts (both spoken and written) used by scholars, professionals and experts in the wide-ranging explorations pertinent to the social sciences as a whole. English use is thus placed in an international context, English being the instrument for the diffusion of knowledge world-wide: in this light, it becomes the platform for the discussion of interdisciplinary and intercultural themes.

Educational objectives The learning objectives of the German language course are to lead the student to:
1. Acquire the necessary skills to communicate easily about various aspects of every day life and also in specific study and work situations in German.
2. Investigate aspects of German civilization and culture.
3. Familiarize themselves with the socio-economic lexicon through authentic texts.
4. Develop learning strategies in order to improve language skills, with a view to lifelong learning.

• comprehension of oral messages: B1

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
Students who have passed the examination will possess:
• A mastery of the German language in daily life and study and professional communicative situations.
• A knowledge of the most important cultural aspects of German-speaking countries;
• Learning strategies which allow them to continue the learning of German in an independent way.
