Objectives

The course aims to provide students with the basic theories on communication in the agri-food sector, with in-depth information on communication ethics in marketing and social media. Students will deepen the knowledge on the various ways of photographic and video communication in the gastronomic field, with particular reference to the web and social platforms, to production problems, to the effective formatting of contents.
Moreover, The course aims to provide students with the knowledge necessary to understand the economic aspects related to the agri-food system from the point of view of national and international institutions, companies, the market and the consumer. The aspects related to quality certifications will also be addressed.

Learning outcomes

B1.
The course aims at practicing students’ listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills (level B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)). At the end of the course, students should be able to understand the main points of clear texts on familiar topics in standard/specialized language, as well as produce simple, organised texts about familiar topics related to their field of studies. Also, students should be able to describe experiences, events, wishes and aspirations, and explain opinions and plans.

1) Course objectives, course bibliography, exam info. Auxillaries to be / to have.
Present Simple. Adverbs of frequency. Nouns. Regular and irregular plural forms of nouns.
Genitive case. Countable and uncountable nouns.
2) Definite and indefinite articles.
3)Present Simple. Short questions, tag questions. There is/ there are. Indefinite adjectives.
4) Can, must e have to that indicate daily routines. Present Progressive for the Future.
Present Simple vs Present Progressive.
5) Imperative form. Must, need e have to. Prepositions. Iimperative forms for street
directions.
6) Past Simple and Past Continuous.
7) Past Simple of the irregular verbs. Relative and interrogative pronouns and adjectives:
who, why, what, where, when, how.
8) Present Perfect vs Present Perfect Continuous. Indefinite adjectives.
9) Future tenses. May and might. Can, will and shall for offers and requests.
10) Conditional mood 1, 2, 3.
11) Active vs Passive Voice. Phrasal verbs.
12) Specialised scientific articles. Reading and translation. Oral presentation of the article of your choice.
