Objectives

The course aims to introduce the student to the study of "Biotechnology", a subject that includes methodologies and technologies that allow to work on a project plan of "Sustainable Development". The aim is to analyse and deepen the research of an analysis methodology that highlights the results of the assessment of global sustainability, understood as environmental, economic and social sustainability through Life Cycle Thinking (LCT).

Learning outcomes

Biotechnology shows constant development in the world of research and the production of goods and services, finding application in many areas, from pharmaceuticals to the agri-food sector, through environmental remediation, and represents an important growth opportunity, both for industrialized and developing countries. In light of this, The 24-lesson (6 CFU) course aims to train students with a basic background related to biotechnology, what is behind it, and how it will benefit society from a sustainable development perspective. By the end of the course, students will have become familiar with the topics and issues, so that they will be able as much as possible to reason effectively and interpret reality from a biotechnological perspective.
