Degree Programme

Studying fashion in Rome means experiencing a city that is “open” to Italian fashion and its development, from haute couture to the artisan values of Made in Italy which are famous all around the world.

It means having the opportunity to integrate knowledge of fashion production with the world of entertainment, film and theater, in an unique artistic and cultural context.

Therefore, it involves getting in touch with neocouture and the new languages that blend art, fashion and culture with traditions and innovation.

Sapienza University has  offered academic fashion programmes for many years.  The first course was taught in 2001, and now Sapienza has further enriched its academic fashion programmes by including a Master taught in English for international students.

This  is the result of an ongoing dialogue with members of the fashion industry, main associations and institutions that are active locally (FISMO-CONFESERCENTI; Camera di Commercio - Roma; UNINDUSTRIA; FEDERMODA) and many entrepreneurs and fashion professionals.

Fashion and Costume Science will allow students to have first hand experience the fashion industry through seminars, events, workshops, projects.

The Master programme uses interdisciplinary teachings and the role of scholars from several disciplines, including humanities, social sciences, economics, marketing, and technical and management disciplines. Strong connections professionals in the field of fashion provide a students with insight into today’s world of fashion.
