The Degree seeks to complete a specialized formation, integrating theoretical-critical knowledge and operative and professional skills in the field of Landscape design to a variety of scales, providing the skills to collaborate with other professional figures in the fields of Architecture, Engineering and Natural Sciences.  
The programme is articulated, as in the EU, in units and activities that aim at providing the skills related to planning, design and management of the processes of landscape transformation, in its natural and anthropic components, in order to satisfy natural and human, functional and aesthetic needs. This will be done while acknowledging the Landscape’s potential (in its physical, ecological-environmental, aesthetic and socio-cultural features), as well as the potential and issues of the contexts within which interventions take place, employing aesthetic, functional and operative principles based on specific technical-scientific methodologies.
The knowledge required for the complete formation of the Landscape Architect, recognized on an EU level (EFLA Declaration, European Foundation for Landscape Architecture, Bruxelles, April 1989), includes the following:

a) the history and theory of landscape, of arts, of technologies, of human and natural sciences, and their interrelation; 
b) aesthetic theories which influence the project of landscape;
c) ecology, and the use of natural elements as the foundation for conservation, planning, design and management of landscape; 
d) the requirements of architectural and engineering works, with relation to landscape’s features; 
e) physical and technological issues that interfere with the environment; 
f) the relationships between man and environment;
g) the safeguard, preservation and conservation of historical landscape; 
h) the relevance of Landscape Architecture in the processes of planning and design, on a regional, national and international level; 
i) the analysis methods, preparatory to the planning of landscape and of environmental relationships; 
j) the methods and techniques of representation and communication; 
k) the productive, normative and managerial processes, needed to realise plans and projects; 
l) the legislation related to the practice of the Landscape Architect profession.
The programme takes into account the peculiarity of the discipline of contemporary landscape architecture, with reference to the following: its actual planning dimension, oriented towards the promotion of the identity of places;  the specifically technical and technological aspects; and the objectives related to: the quality of landscape; the ecological-environmental methods; the social aims of the project; the environmental, economic, social, technical and energy sustainability aspects; and a contemporary and dynamic vision of environmental aspects. To these purposes, the ordinary Education Offer can be integrated with activities related to the organisation, participation and management of seminars and workshops, on a National and International level.
