Students are requested to specify in their email subject "Verification of CLM Biotechnology Medical Requirements". Should applicants fail to send this documentation, their verification request will not be taken into consideration.

As specified in the Course Regulations, admission to CLM in Medical Biotechnology is subject to possession of pre-determined curricular requirements and a verification of personal preparation.

Curricular requirements:

To have obtained the Degree in one of the following classes or be in possession of another qualification obtained abroad, which is officially considered equivalent:

- Class LM-41 Medicine and Surgery

former. Ministerial Decree 509/99:

- Class 1 Biotechnology

- Class 12 Biological Sciences

- Class 46S Medicine and Surgery

Previous five-year regulations in Biological Sciences and Biotechnologies.

Alternatively, have acquired at least 50 ECTS credits equally divided between the following scientific-disciplinary sectors:

Those who do not possess the curricular requisites, can integrate their curriculum by taking additional exams, following the procedure indicated in art. 41 of the University Manifesto (Registration for individual courses). Graduates at "Sapienza" will be able to take advantage of art. 42 of the University Manifesto (ex Article 6) to recuperate any missing SSDs in their study path. Students must pass these exams by January 30, 2019, which is the enrolment deadline.

The integrative exams can be chosen between the courses related to the SSDs in question, from any programme of the University (neither the secretarial office, nor the teachers of the CdS, have a predefined list of integrative exams which can be taken).

Personal preparation:

For graduates in universities other than Sapienza and for Sapienza graduates in degree classes other than those indicated in the curricular requirements for admission, in addition to the evaluation of their curriculum, there will be an assessment of their personal preparation regarding the main disciplines related to medical biotechnology.

This assessment is carried out by a committee of professors, in the form of a written test consisting of 60 multiple choice questions on basic subjects in the field of Medical Biotechnologies (Biochemistry, Chemistry and Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Histology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology and Immunology).

To pass the test, you must answer at least 50% of the questions correctly.

All candidates must have an appropriate level of English, which will also be assessed (at least B2 level is required), through an interview based on the reading and translation of a scientific text or article. Candidates with a B2 level certificate in English can submit this certification to the committee on the day of the assessment.

Written tests and interviews in English will take place on the following dates and times:

Applicants will receive notification of the assessment by email, at the address they have entered on Infostud at the time of registration.

The test can be taken once only.

The test is also compulsory for candidates with a qualification obtained abroad.

Undergraduate students can also take the test. Should they pass the exam, they will be admitted with reserve, until they present their degree certificate (the degree title must however be achieved within the deadlines set in the call by January 18, 2019 (for students of Sapienza) and by 21 December 2018 (for students from other universities).

Candidates who have yet to take any additional exams in order to complete their curricular requirements can take the test. Also in this case,  they will be admitted with reserve, until they present their certification regarding the integrative exams taken (the certificates must be sent to the Student Secretarial Office of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Medicine (segrstudenti.medicina@uniroma1.it), specifying in the subject "Assessment of CLM Biotechnology Medical Requirements".

The first year courses start on Monday 5 November 2018. Attendance of not less than 67% of the lessons is required in order to take the exams.
