All students, after enrolling, are requested to submit a study plan online at Studyplans/GOMP/INFOSTUD. Students cannot sit for exams that are not included in their study plan (see Note 1). This is the case for all elective courses available for a given curriculum. Selected exams are to be considered in relation to the academic year of students’ enrolment. The list of exams to be included in a study plan (including possible future changes) needs to be formally submitted BEFORE sitting for the exams. For students enrolling after a passage or transfer, the study plan is filled in by the Educational Affairs Office after recognition of previous credits.
Study plans can be submitted in given periods of every academic year, usually from mid/late November of the year of enrolment and the first two weeks of March of the following year. Next submission period starts on 10 May 2019.
PLEASE NOTE: SUBMISSION/CHANGE OF A STUDY PLAN IS NOT PERMITTED OUTSIDE THE PRESCRIBED PERIODS.

Choice of Laboratory Activities. Please note that laboratory courses can be chosen from this category only and not from elective courses.

Choice of free credits. Please note that laboratory courses cannot be included in this category.
Students can submit changes to their study plan during their third year during prescribed periods. One study plan only can be approved every academic year. This means that once they have been submitted and approved, study plans cannot be changed until the following academic year and students are supposed to sit for the exams indicated in their study plans. Furthermore, when changes occur in years following the first, regulations are those of the enrolment year, particularly for active and available courses. Study plans are usually submitted at the beginning of the second year, it is NOT necessary to submit a study plan during the first year since students are not required to make choices and all exams are compulsory.
Before submitting their study plan, students are invited to contact members of staff (as indicated below) during their office hours in the following situations:
- To choose credits in category 4 besides those offered as part of the Degree in Computer Science and Automatic Engineering.
- exams which are part of the curriculum whose contents have already been acquired (in the case of passages from other universities or Degree Programmes).
NOTES REGARDING STUDY PLANS:
1- Students must indicate their motivation for choosing ELECTIVE courses in the “Note” section.
2- Students of third year or following years making changes to their study plan approved the previous academic year, must mention in the “Note” section both the exam they would like to replace and the one they would like to include with related motivation.
Without motivation, study plans will automatically be refused.

NOTE 1: According to Sapienza Regulations, students can only register and sit for exams included in their study plans for the academic year they are enrolled in. This means, for instance, that a second year student can only sit for second year exams as provided by his/her study plan, and cannot sit for third year exams. Please note that elective exams (12 optional credits) are by definition third year exams, and thus first or second year students cannot sit for them (nor register for them). In particular newly enrolled students can only register for first year and first semester exams.
Honours programmes aim to enhance the knowledge and training of worthy students who are interested in further learning activities promoting cultural integration. Honours programmes offer additional learning activities besides those provided as part of the degree programme they are enrolled in. Through these activities students do not acquire credits that can be used to obtain further degrees from Sapienza University.
Admission to honours programmes take place during the first year after students who possess the following minimum requirements apply. A tutor will advise students on their study plan for their honours programme.
Erasmus students who spend part of their academic career in a foreign university and have access to an honours programme can do part of this programme in the host university.
Admission requirements
First year students who have passed all compulsory exams with average marks of at least 27 out of 30 by the end of the first year (30th November) can apply to have access to honours programmes. In the case of students with equal marks the youngest will be given priority. The maximum number of students who can be admitted is 15.
At the end of the second year, students need to have acquired all second year credits with average marks of at least 27 out of 30 to continue their honours programme.
Students need to graduate by the third year with average marks of at least 27 out of 30 to successfully complete their honours programme.
Contents of honours programmes
Students define a personalized study plan with their tutor. Possible activities are listed below as an example:

Second year (approximately 100 hours): a detailed study of a theoretical or project work and a related essay; alternatively, students can take part in seminars or other research or project activities.

Third year (approximately 200 hours): research or project activities within a group or research laboratory (or other initiatives), alternatively students can further study a theoretical or project work or take part in research related events (competitions, summer schools, conferences, etc.).
At the end of each year, students must submit a report describing all activities to the Computer Science Area Educational Board.
Conclusion of honours programmes
Students who successfully conclude their honours programme will receive a certificate and their participation will be recorded in their academic career. They will also receive a refund of the last year fees.
