Graduation

The final exam, to which 15 credits are assigned, is composed by the presentation and discussion of the master's thesis dissertation to a commission appointed according to the University regulations. The thesis, realized with the supervision of a professor of the course, will present, in the form of an original scientific report, an empirical research or a re-elaboration of the scientific literature or a critical discussion of a professional experience pertinent to the educational objectives of the course. The personal commitment for the drafting of the thesis work- that will have to prove the theoretical and methodological competences acquired by the candidate during the training activities - will be commensurate with the educational credits attributed to this final work.

The master's degree program includes 15 credits for the final examination.

Students in master's degree courses must develop a thesis whose value in credits is indicated in the current Manifesto in the year in which the student enrolled in the first year of the course. Remember that each credit corresponds on average 25 hours of student activity. The thesis is discussed in a final exam before a commission which, after having heard the tutor and the co-examiner, will evaluate the quality of the work presented by the candidate and the outcome of the discussion.

The thesis consists of an original script in English, consistent with scientific quality characteristics, carried out in substantial autonomy and may consist of:

► an empirical research that can concern both data collected directly by the candidate (alone or in collaboration with other students) and data made available by the teacher; in any case, the candidate's contribution to data collection and other aspects of the work must be specified.

►a bibliographic review that is not reduced to a simple compilation, but uses articles and chapters of books rather than manuals or intermediate sources (Intermediate source means reviews or essays that already summarize research by others; these sources, however authoritative , cannot constitute the majority of the references).

The subject of the degree thesis can concern any scientific-disciplinary sector, psychological or non-psychological, provided that it is foreseen by the course of study to which the student is enrolled. Normally the thesis is carried out in a disciplinary field in which at least one examination was taken during the second level studies curriculum.

The thesis is discussed before a commission made up of 7 to 14 members, which includes the candidates' tutors and co-rapporteurs.

In the discussion the candidate must demonstrate to master critically the subject of his thesis and to know how to link it to the psychological knowledge of his own curriculum.
