Learning outcomes

At the end of the integrated course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the main pathologies of nephrological, pneumological, endocrinological, oncological, cardiological, and hematological interest.
- Understand the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms and the general principles of nursing care.
- Recognize the signs and symptoms of major clinical conditions and assess their nursing implications.
- Apply nursing protocols and fundamental guidelines for the management of complex patients.
- Analyze multidisciplinary clinical cases, identifying nursing priorities and problems.
- Communicate effectively with patients and within the multidisciplinary team.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry.
- Fundamental concepts of nursing methodology and clinical semeiotics.
- Preliminary knowledge of microbiology and general pharmacology is desirable

Programme

Pathologies of interest in nephrology, pulmonology, endocrinology, oncology, cardiology and
haematology.

Lessons mode

- Lectures with multimedia support.
- Discussion of interdisciplinary clinical cases.
- Practical training in simulated clinical scenarios.
- Group work and thematic seminars.

Frequency

Attendance is mandatory. Students are required to attend at least 75% of the scheduled hours. Attendance will be recorded.

Exam mode

- Written examination with multiple-choice questions and short open-ended questions covering all modules.
- Integrated oral examination to verify clinical reasoning and multidisciplinary connections.
The assessment will take into account:
- theoretical knowledge;
- ability to apply nursing protocols;
- clinical analysis and synthesis skills.

- Describe the main clinical signs of a patient with acute heart failure.
- What are the main indications for chronic dialysis?
- Illustrate the nursing approach to a patient with acute respiratory failure.
- Explain the nurse’s role in the management of the oncological patient undergoing chemotherapy.
- Identify the acute complications of diabetes mellitus and the related nursing approach.
- What are the main differences between iron-deficiency anemia and anemia of chronic disease?
