Elements of Cytology: Structural organization of the cells and tissues HISTOLOGY Epithelial tissues: Covering epithelia: general characteristics, organization, classification and description of the different types of epithelia. Characteristics and surface specializations of epithelial cells. Intercellular junctions. Glandular epithelia: exocrine and endocrine glands. Connective Tissue: cells and extracellular matrix (fibers and amorphous ground substance). Connective Tissue Proper (loose and dense). Adipose tissue. Supporting Connective Tissues: Cartilage: (hyaline, elastic and fibrocartilage). The perichondrium. Bone: compact bone and cancellous (spongy) bone. The periosteum and endosteum. Histogenesis of the cartilage and of the bone. Intramembranous and endocondral ossification. Bone remodeling. Fracture repair. Blood. Circulating blood cells. Bone marrow and hematopoiesis. Lymphoid tissue. Concepts on the immune system. Muscle tissue: smooth, skeletal and cardiac muscle. Nervous tissue and Neuroglia. Synapses

Written test: 15 multiple choice questions. Correct answer to at least 10 questions to access the oral exam Oral exam: Questions to verify the results of the written test on topics of histology
