Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
Know the physical and biological principles underlying Nuclear Medicine.
Understand the characteristics of radiopharmaceuticals and their administration methods.
Describe the operation of the equipment used (gamma camera, SPECT, PET).
Identify the main clinical indications for Nuclear Medicine investigations in diagnostic and therapeutic settings.
Apply radiation protection standards specific to Nuclear Medicine.
Collaborate with the nuclear medicine physician in patient preparation and management.
Correctly interpret technical and operational procedures in the context of metabolic and functional investigations.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of the following areas:
Physics of ionizing radiation
Human anatomy and physiology
Fundamentals of radiation protection
Elements of pharmacology
Basic knowledge of the use of radiological equipment
