Students who have completed the individual courses in Diagnostic Imaging - Radiotherapy, Forensic Medicine, and Pharmacology will be able to understand the main diagnostic imaging methodologies, the use of radiation, and the main medical applications of biomedical technologies, assessing their risks, costs, and benefits. They will also be able to understand the principles underlying forensic medicine and apply these principles in their professional lives to develop a work culture.

Introduction to forensic medicine. Law 219/2017. End of life. The case of DJ Fabo. Medical professional liability in civil matters. Medical professional liability in criminal matters. From individual fault to system error (risk management in the healthcare sector). Professional and official secrecy. Protection of confidentiality. Mandatory health reporting. The medical certificate. The medical record. Report and statement. Definition, purposes, methodology, forensic activities, systematics of the discipline. Material causality. Mistreatment of minors and incapacitated persons. Interdiction, incapacitation, and supportive administration. Mental state and its relationship with the law. Psychic causality. Criminal responsibility and its causes of exclusion or limitation. Psychiatric assessment. Exploitation of the incapacitated. Crimes against life. Murder. Crimes against personal safety. The crime of personal injury. Social insurance.
Road homicide. Introduction to thanatology. Immediate post-mortem phenomena. Consecutive post-mortem phenomena. Transformative post-mortem phenomena. Traumatology and forensic pathology

Natural origin radiation. Ionizing and non-ionizing radiation of artificial origin. Principles of radiation protection. Risk from external and internal irradiation. Main radioactive and radiogenic sources. Radiogenic machines used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Prevention regulations. Radioactive waste. Relevant legislation.
