Learning outcomes

Microbiology
Knowledge of the virulence and resistance mechanisms of pathogenic bacteria
For the microbiology exam, the student is required to prepare a presentation on a specific assigned topic.
The presentation of the report takes place in class collectively with the other students. The various assigned topics are discussed in class, and the knowledge acquired on the entire program and the level of the student's understanding of the specific assigned topic are assessed.
The report is then presented in its final form to the examination committee and is open to questions that cover the entire course program.
Pharmacology
At the end of the module, the student should have acquired knowledge of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. They should understand the stages of developing new drugs. The student must also be aware of issues related to the safety of a drug in the population. Additionally, they should be knowledgeable about the fundamental principles.
- DNA: structure and function. Protein synthesis.
- Genes, genome, and genetic mutations.
- Transmission of inherited traits.
- Classification of genetic diseases.
- Examples of monogenic diseases.
- Human chromosomes. Karyotype. Chromosomal anomalies. Chromosomal disorders.
- Recurrence risks of monogenic diseases and chromosomal disorders.
- Diagnosis of monogenic diseases and chromosomal disorders.
- Prenatal diagnosis of genetic diseases.
- Genetic counseling: indications, aims, and methods.
