Contents:
• Definition, objectives, and applications of epidemiology.
• Descriptive epidemiology: measures of frequency (incidence, prevalence, mortality, lethality) and health indicators.
• Analytical epidemiology: measures of association (relative risk, odds ratio, attributable risk) and cause–effect relationship.
• Levels of prevention (primary, secondary, tertiary).
• Study designs in epidemiology: descriptive, cohort, case-control, cross-sectional, and experimental studies (RCTs).
• Main biases (selection and information) and systematic errors.
• Confounding and methods for its control.
• Interpretation of epidemiological results.
