Learning outcomes

Educational Objectives
The course aims to provide students with knowledge of the essential morphological and functional characteristics of human tissues, organs, systems, and their interactions, for the understanding of clinical issues.

By the end of the course, students should know:
- The essential morphological characteristics of the human tissues and their organization within complex organs.
- The various systems and organs of the body, their structures and interactions.
- The structural and functional relationship between anatomy and physiology.

By the end of the course, students should be able to:
- Recognize and describe the characteristics of different tissues, organs, and systems.
- Identify the relationships between the structure and function of various organs
- Describe the relationships between the different biological processes underlying homeostatic processes.
- Correctly use the specific medical terminology of histology, anatomy, and physiology.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of cytology and cell biology

Lessons mode

Classroom lectures with slides and audiovisual materials.

Frequency

Attendance is mandatory. Students are required to attend at least 70% of the total scheduled lecture hours. Attendance will be regularly monitored. Failure to meet the minimum attendance requirement may result in exclusion from the final exam or the assignment of additional coursework, in accordance with the program’s regulations.

Exam mode

Student learning is assessed through an exam consisting of: a written test and an oral test. Written test: 30 multiple choice questions (15 questions Anatomy; 10 questions Physiology; 5 questions Histology). Correct answer to at least 18 questions to access the oral exam, consisting in the verification of the outcome of the written test on topics of Anatomy, Physiology and Histology
For students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), the method and duration of the written and oral tests will be agreed upon individually.

Example exam questions

Examples of questions for the written exam can be found on the website https://elearning.uniroma1.it/
