Prerequisites
the studente must have the bases to learn the lessons
Programme
Module: ONCOLOGY
cell proliferation and differentiation; hyperplasia, hypertrophy, metaplasia, anaplasia. Molecular basis of neoplastic transformation: oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes. Morphology of the neoplastic cell. Invasiveness and metastasis. Tumor promotion and progression. Apoptosis and angiogenesis in tumors. Chemical, physical and viral carcinogenesis. Antigens and tumor markers. Cancer classification criteria

Mode of transmission of hereditary diseases. Models of human genetic diseases. Gene Therapy. Non-hereditary congenital pathology.
Module: BLOOD DISEASES
basic knowledge of hematopoiesis.
correct interpretation of the blood count
principles of immunophenotype,
minimal residual disease concept
anemic
lymphomas, acute and chronic leukemias
myeloproliferative disorders
Module: ENDOCRINOLOGY
The Endocrinology course is divided into a first introductory part on the basic concepts necessary for the student to acquire both the terminological mastery and the general notions on the functioning of the system and a special part aimed at contestualizing the main diseases of the endocrine glands. The third part focuses on the basic concepts of hormonal dosages and on the different laboratory methods, aimed at developing the student's critical ability and the interpretation of laboratory data.
General introductory part on the structure and organization of the endocrine system concerning the endocrine glands (anatomy and distribution), hormones (synthesis, secretion and mechanism of action), receptors (nuclear and membrane), regulatory systems, integration of the endocrine system with the nervous system and with the immune system, concept of biological rhythm. Special section on the pathology of the hypothalamus and pituitary gland (acromegaly, gigantism, pituitary dwarfism); Thyroid (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroiditis); Parathyroid glands; Testicle and Ovary; Adrenal glands (hypoadrenocorticism, hypercorticadrenalism); Endocrine pancreas (Type 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus). Part on dosing methods.
