Learning outcomes
Key learning objectives: The course aims to impart basic understanding of the most current and pertinent molecular genetics techniques applied to diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive problems in human pathology.
The following must be understood by the student at the end of the course: the structure of the molecular diagnostic laboratory, the primary and most recent methods utilized for the diagnosis of genetic and malignant disorders, the equipment utilized, and the protocols for the technical validation of the tests.
Understand how to assess their use in diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive contexts on various sample types.
Having the rational tools necessary to create suitable approaches that are helpful in resolving particular diagnostic issues.
Be able to critically analyze with instructors and coworkers the advantages and disadvantages of various investigative techniques.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of cell biology, genetics, immunology and translational medicine for biomedical laboratory technicians.
