Upon completion of the course, the student must know:
- the fundamental principles of smile aesthetics
- the correlations between prosthesis and periodontology
- the periodontal conditions of difficult prosthetic solution
- prosthetic solutions for teeth with healthy periodontium
- prosthetic solutions for teeth with compromised periodontium
- surgical and/or prosthetic soft tissue conditioning techniques
- periodontal complications in fixed prostheses

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to do:
- a multidisciplinary periodontal and prosthetic diagnosis in periodontally healthy or compromised patients
- a multidisciplinary periodontal and prosthetic treatment plan in simple and complex cases
- a correct surgical/prosthetic planning in patients with altered passive eruption (APE)

At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
- recognize and evaluate the main periodontal clinical conditions and their prosthetic implications;
- plan and deliver fixed, removable, and implant-supported prosthetic solutions integrated with periodontal health;
- apply multidisciplinary diagnostic and therapeutic protocols;
- critically analyze clinical outcomes and select personalized treatment strategies;
- collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and effectively communicate with patients about prognosis and rehabilitation options.

Essential prerequisites include knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and histology of the stomatognathic system, oral pathology, and basic principles of prosthodontics and periodontology. Useful background includes imaging diagnostics and conservative dentistry skills.

Teaching activities include lectures, preclinical practical exercises, interactive seminars, and clinical case discussions. Clinical simulations are planned using a problem-based learning (PBL) approach.

Attendance is compulsory. At least 67% of the scheduled teaching hours are required to be eligible for the final exam.

Assessment includes: final oral exam with all the teachers of the course (evaluation of the ability to integrate periodontal and prosthetic knowledge).
