Objectives
At the end of the course the student must acquire further knowledge, skills and diagnostic and clinical-therapeutic skills, integrating those acquired in previous years, within the specialist disciplines, dental prostheses, dental materials, special pathology odontostomatology, periodontology, gnathology.
At the end of the training course the student must be able to correctly perform specific professional activities [Minimum Requirements], attributable to the disciplines included in the teaching.
Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide students with the skills necessary to recognize, diagnose, and treat oral diseases that may arise in the dental setting. Students will learn about the main oral diseases, their impact on the patient's overall health, and the correlation between oral and dermatological health. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Recognize the main oral diseases, including oral tumors, infections, and malformations.
- Identify skin diseases that affect the oral cavity (e.g., skin lesions with oral manifestations).
- Apply diagnostic and therapeutic protocols for the management of oral and dermatological diseases.
- Understand the interrelationship between oral and dermatological diseases, such as autoimmune diseases and dermatological syndromes.
- Know how to perform a differential diagnosis in the case of skin and oral lesions.
Prerequisites
To take the exam for this course, students must have passed the Pathological Anatomy course (prerequisite) to fully understand the concepts and content of the course. The following knowledge is also required:
- Basics of Anatomy and Physiology
- General and Dental Anatomy
- Physiology of the Skin and Mucous Membranes
- Fundamentals of Microbiology and Immunology
- Principles of General Pathology
- Cellular and Tissue Pathology
- Dental Diagnostic Techniques
- Imaging Techniques
- General Dermatology

The Course provides exclusively professional training activities aimed at patient care with odontostomatological problems related to odontostomatological pathology and oral medicine.
At the end of the course the student must have deepened further knowledge and acquired targeted diagnostic and clinical-therapeutic skills and abilities, within the framework of this discipline, continuing and integrating the skills acquired in previous years. To complete the course, the student must be able to correctly perform specific professional activities [Minimum Requirements] referable to oral medicine and odontostomatological pathology and oral medicine.
The course will include the discussion of clinical cases of odontostomatological pathology and oral medicine from a multidisciplinary point of view.
