Course program
Physiology of the cardiovascular system: Electrical and mechanical events of the cardiac cycle. Cardiac output and its regulation. Structure and functions of the arteries. Blood pressure and its adjustment. Microcirculation: function of blood and lymphatic capillary vessels. Structure and functions of the venous system. Physiology of the respiratory system: Mechanics of breathing. Cable function pleural. Lung volumes and capacities; the respiratory muscles; pressure-volume relationships a 2 alveolar and thoraco-pulmonary levels. Breathing work. The pulmonary circulation; gas exchange at the alveolar-capillary level. Transport of gases in the blood. Ventilation and pulmonary perfusion. Nervous and chemical control of ventilation. Physiology of the renal system: Functional anatomy of the kidney; the nephron structure and function; glomerular filtration and its regulation. Clearance concept and functionality tests renal. Tubular transport. Secretion and reabsorption mechanisms of the various ions, of sugars and amino acids. The mechanism of acidification of urine. Adjustment of the water balance, the juxtaglomerular system. Endocrine system: structure and function of the main endocrine glands: Thyroid and parathyroid glands, adrenal glands, the endocrine pancreas. Endocrine function of the pituitary gland. -
