Introduction to Infectious Processes of the Foot
Epidemiology and pathophysiology of foot infections
Clinical diagnosis and therapeutic principles

Physiology of Tissue Repair
Mechanisms of tissue repair and wound healing
Classification of acute and chronic lesions
Clinical assessment and management of patients with cutaneous ulcers
Principles of advanced wound dressings
Debridement techniques (surgical, mechanical, enzymatic, autolytic)
Prerequisites
The course requires basic knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the foot and lower limb, as well as microbiology and general pathology, which are considered essential for understanding infectious processes and tissue healing dynamics. A preliminary background in hygiene principles, basic pharmacology, and fundamental clinical semiotics is also recommended.

Teaching mode
The course will be delivered through frontal lectures supported by multimedia presentations and dedicated teaching materials. Clinical cases and examples of surgical images/videos will be presented to strengthen the connection between theoretical knowledge and professional practice. Student participation will be encouraged through guided discussion.
Frequency
Compulsory in presence of at least 75% of lectures.
Exam mode
Oral examination, aimed at assessing theoretical knowledge and its application through the discussion of clinical cases relevant to the course.
Bibliography
Bibliography will be provided during each lecture.
