General and Organic Chemistry
Prerequisites:
Basic knowledge of high school-level chemistry (atomic structure, periodic table, chemical bonds)
Familiarity with fundamental mathematical concepts, including algebra and basic stoichiometry
Understanding of basic physical principles relevant to chemical reactions (e.g., thermodynamics and kinetics)
General and Applied Hygiene
Prerequisites:
Basic understanding of biology and human anatomy
Familiarity with concepts of health and disease
Interest in public health and preventive medicine
Chemical Plants
Prerequisites:
Foundational knowledge in chemistry and physics
Basic understanding of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics
Some familiarity with industrial processes and technical drawing (optional but recommended)
Medical Statistics
Prerequisites:
Basic mathematics, particularly algebra and arithmetic
Understanding of key concepts in probability
Familiarity with scientific reasoning and interpretation of data

Module: GENERAL AND INORGANIC CHEMISTRY
1. ATOMS MOLECULES AND IONS: The atomic structure: electrons, protons, neutrons. Atomic number and mass number. Isotopes. Atomic weight. Periodic table. Metals and non-metals. Groups. Periods.
2. CHEMICAL COMPOUNDS AND REACTIONS. Types of chemical compounds and their nomenclature. Chemical reactions: introduction to equations, balancing a chemical reaction, stoichiometric calculations.
3. CHEMICAL BOND AND GEOMETRY OF MOLECULES. Valence electrons and chemical bonds. Lewis structures. Octet rule. Ionic bond. Covalent bond: non polar and polar. Electronegativity. Intermolecular bonds
4. THE AERIFORM STATE: Pressure. Boyle, Charles and Gay-Lussac laws. Absolute temperature scale. Equation of state of ideal gases.
5. THE LIQUID AND THE SOLID STATE AND SOLUTIONS. Definitions and main characteristics of matter in the liquid and solid state. Definition of solution. Unit of concentration.
6. CHEMICAL EQUILIBRIUM. Chemical equilibrium and the equilibrium constant. Le Chatelier's principle. Factors that influence the position of equilibrium. Acids and bases. Definition and theories on acid-base

The main general covered by the course are: 1) Data gathering, coding and entering. 2) Frequency distributions. 3) Graphs. 4) Central tendency indicators. 5) Variability indicators and association statistics. 6) Shape of a distribution. 7) Distributions. 8) Statistical tables. 9) Parameters and confidence intervals. 10) Basic statistical tests.
The course would be approximately segmented as follows: mainly traditional lessons, devoted to data gathering, coding and entering, and to frequencies and graphs; then we will proceed to introducing the central tendency and dispersion indicators, and the main distributions; finally, discussion the basic statistical tests, having previously introduced the logic of the null-hypothesis statistical testing.
