Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Understand and discuss the main issues relating to sociology, pedagogy and psychology, as well as the philosophy of science within preventive and therapeutic systems
- Describe the attentional processes involved in perception, attentional strategies, executive functions and pedagogical and sociological skills
- As TRANSVERSAL SKILLS, at the end of the course, students will also have developed the ability to: Integrate knowledge from the four subject areas.
- Understand and discuss the main ethical issues in contemporary society, with a particular focus on health sciences. Understand and apply the ethical, legal and professional regulations governing the practice of health professions
- Collaborate effectively with other health professionals to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare.

Programme
The course serves the dual purpose of providing training and informative content. The topics covered concern basic cognitive and emotional processes. The main issues are attention, emotions and motivation, perception and sensation, learning and memory, reasoning, decision-making processes, and problem-solving. For each cognitive process, the lecturer will explain the outcomes of its impairment with references to neuropsychology. The lecturer will give a brief overview of the in-depth monographic texts at the beginning of the course to help students choose which ones to study for the examination.

Lessons mode
Lessons are held in the classroom, and students then have access to course slides and additional material via the classroom, where they can also find practical exercises to support their learning.
Frequency
Attendance compulsory, teacher records classroom attendance.
Exam mode
To pass the examination, a mark of not less than 18/30 in each module is required. The student must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the topics covered in the course. In order to obtain a mark of 30/30 with distinction, the student must demonstrate excellent knowledge of all the topics covered in the course, arguing a linear argument using technical terms and correct linguistic expressions.
Example exam questions
Questions on topics related to ethics, sociology and pedagogy. The assessment will be written, and the lecturer, in agreement with the students, may decide to include an oral examination for their module.
