Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student will be able to assess, plan, and implement personalized rehabilitative interventions for patients with neurological disorders, integrating knowledge of neurology, rehabilitation medicine, and nursing and technical-rehabilitation sciences, in order to promote functional recovery, prevent complications, and enhance autonomy and quality of life in individuals with neurological disabilities.

Prerequisites

To effectively undertake the course, students should possess basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the nervous system.
An understanding of the general principles of clinical and functional assessment and the ability to apply clinical and rehabilitative reasoning focused on the person with neurological disorders are also essential.

Programme

Module: NEUROLOGY
Functional neuroanatomy (motor and sensory systems, cranial nerves). Neuromuscular diseases (motor neuron diseases, radiculopathies, neuropathies, neuromuscular junction disorders, myopathies). Movement disorders (Parkinson's disease and parkinsonisms); higher brain functions and dementia (Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases). Consciousness and its disorders: encephalopathies, cranial trauma, brain tumors, stroke and cerebrovascular diseases, cerebrospinal fluid and disorders of cerebrospinal fluid circulation, meningitis/encephalitis. Multiple sclerosis, headaches, epilepsy.
