Knowledge and understanding
 
In order to pass the exam, knowledge of the constitutional text is required, in particular of the articles focused on the labour discipline. A basic knowledge of the legislation based on the social insurance laws and union trade legislation is required.
 
Applying knowledge and understanding
 
The course aims to guarantee the student the ability to read and to interpret doctrine and jurisprudence in the field of labour law, social insurance and trade union freedom.
 
Making judgments
 
The course aims to achieve full autonomy of judgment in the subjects under study and this will be encouraged through:
-       Critical comments of sentences/judgments and supplementary articles assigned in the classroom
-       Examination of the materials collected through presentation in the classroom and collegial discussion.
 
           Communication skills
Communication skills and moreover, the whole technical language typical of the legal subject must be acquired with traditional and new teaching methods: attending lectures and seminars can be useful to develop dialogue and understand in a scientific debate; for the same reason students will be asked to produce short presentations, commentaries of sentences, reports and simulation of trials that can actively help to achieve a level of understanding and communication necessary to pass the exam.
 
Learning skills
The course also aims to provide students a legal method and a cultural background aimed at fostering the learning ability.

The collected essays, articles and notes look from multiple perspectives at the place of work in the Italian Constitution, whether it is the general relationship between 'work' and 'progress' as employed in Articles 1 and 4, types of work and their respective protections, strikes, collective bargaining, the role of trade unions, active labour policies, the different meaning of social policies employed in European Union law. The writings cover almost forty years, which is also why they should be seen not so much in reference to the immediate solution of individual legal problems, but in the long time of constitutions. A time that, also with reference to 'work' and 'workers', has known different seasons, resulting from interpretations of legal texts, from reforms or proposals for reform, from course corrections and self-corrections by social actors.

• I saggi, gli articoli e le note raccolte guardano da molteplici prospettive al posto del lavoro nella Costituzione italiana, si tratti del generale rapporto fra 'lavoro' e 'progresso' quali impiegati negli artt. 1 e 4, di tipologie di lavoro e delle rispettive tutele, di sciopero, di contrattazione collettiva, di ruolo dei sindacati, di politiche attive del lavoro, della diversa accezione di politiche sociali impiegata nel diritto dell'Unione europea. Gli scritti coprono quasi quaranta anni, e anche per questo vanno visti non tanto in riferimento alla soluzione immediata di singoli problemi giuridici, quanto nel tempo lungo delle costituzioni. Un tempo che, anche in riferimento al 'lavoro' e ai 'lavoratori', ha conosciuto diverse stagioni, che risultano da interpretazioni dei testi normativi, da riforme o proposte di riforma, da correzioni ed autocorrezioni di rotta degli attori sociali.
