LABS OF INDUSTRY 4.0 Single channel

Chair (Coordinator) and Rapporteur: FRANCESCO COSTANTINO

Objectives

The course gives on-field experience to apply technologies of Industry 4.0. The course, as an extension of the Smart Factory course, develops one of its topics through the application of simulation models, business intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, or defect detection and recognition.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, participants will be able to apply their knowledge of smart factories and selected enabling technologies, analyze a production context and assess opportunities for the integration of advanced technologies, and develop a prototype solution applying an Industry 4.0/5.0 technology.

Prerequisites

Course "Smart Factory" (in italian)

Programme

Application of the concepts learned in the Smart Factory course, with the development of a technical solution dedicated to Industry 4.0, for example through the use of data analysis software, simulation, and artificial intelligence. The case is proposed by the teacher from year to year.

Books

Depending on the project, the professor provides references.

Lessons mode

The laboratory includes some initial meetings for case definition and meetings to review the work done.

Frequency

In person

Exam mode

The course mark relies on the evaluation of the project. The teacher assesses the achievement of the objectives defined at the beginning of the laboratory, effectiveness/efficiency of the designed and developed system, the independence of the student in the activities, the ability to illustrate what has been achieved, the capability to explain the architecture and the modules of the solution developed in the lab. The project results must be verifiable on the teacher's PC.

Example exam questions

Present the project developed and provide the rationale for the design and technical decisions made.
