Objectives

In consistency with the educational purposes of the whole teaching course, aim of the teaching unit is to give students a basic knowledge and comprehension skills in the field of Foreign languages, with the help of advanced textbooks. Moreover, it will make the student able to apply the acquired knowledge in an expert and reflective way, making autonomous judgments, communicating ideas, problems and reflections in a clear and correct way, and developing the knowledge required to go further in the studies. In particular, at the end of the teaching unit students will learn and become familiar with the vocabulary and grammatical structures of a foreign language (chosen between English, German, French, Spanish), especially in the context of the humanities.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge at European level B2 of one of the main European languages (English, French, Spanish, German).

Prerequisites

An adequate knowledge of the chosen language is required.

Lessons mode

The qualification is based on linguistic competence in the chosen language and does not involve the completion of a programme or structured teaching activities.

Frequency

Attendance is not required.

Exam mode

The lecturer is authorised to certify language proficiency for students of the Laurea triennale in Lettere classiche in the following languages: French, English, Spanish, German.

Students who hold a recognised language certificate (e.g. Cambridge, DELF or equivalent) at level B2 or above may request it to be certified by the lecturer.

In the absence of a language certificate, qualification is achieved through tests organised by the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo (CLA): https://cla.web.uniroma1.it/it/esami-af-lingue, where it is also possible to take language courses (https://cla.web.uniroma1.it/corsi-af-lingue).
