Objectives
In consistency with the educational purposes of the whole teaching course, aim of the teaching unit is to give students a basic knowledge and comprehension skills in the field of Ancient Christian Literature, with the help of advanced textbooks. Moreover, it will make the student able to apply the acquired knowledge in an expert and reflective way, making autonomous judgments, communicating ideas, problems and reflections in a clear and correct way, and developing the knowledge required to go further in the studies. In particular, the course will provide students with an introduction to the study of the discipline, posing the authors in the historical and religious context of their era and highlighting the diversity of literary genres they use in their work (with a wonderful blend of traditional elements and specific contents of the Christian kerygma).
Learning outcomes
The course aims to thoroughly analyze some texts of ancient Christian literature and to offer a knowledge of the history of ancient Christian literature, through the critical reading of Christian texts. It also aims to display some of the relationships between Christian literature and iconography
Prerequisites
Knowledge of the Latin and Greek languages is required
