The acquisition of the scientific and methodological skills necessary to organize and develop research on topics in the disciplinary sector of Drawing.

By the end of the course, students will be able to visually express fashion ideas using a range of traditional and integrated graphic approaches. They will understand and apply geometric reasoning to the construction and transformation of shapes and proportions. They will display refined manual dexterity and sensitivity to chromatic and compositional balance. They will interpret and translate fashion concepts through a critical and personal visual language. The creation of a personal fashion collection will serve as a synthesis and practical application of all the skills acquired throughout the course.

No prerequisites are required for this course.

Module: Drawing 1
The course provides students with the essential skills to effectively represent and communicate the visual and cultural languages of fashion, together with the related design concepts. Learning traditional and digital graphic methodologies and techniques — integrated in an innovative way — enables students to translate creative ideas and visions into coherent and professional visual representations. Students are expected to master the geometric codes that allow for the conscious representation of both real and imagined forms, understanding their formal, dimensional, proportional, and perceptual characteristics. The goal is to develop strong manual and digital skills through freehand drawing and graphic illustration exercises, with particular attention to chromatic aspects and color rendering. The course will be supported by the fundamentals of descriptive and representational geometry. This second part of the Theory and Techniques of Drawing course aims to consolidate these skills through applied experiences and the production of assignments that demonstrate the achievement of the learning objectives. These assignments represent the milestones of the learning process — including lectures, in-class and home exercises — and must be documented in a course sketchbook, kept updated and organized, to be presented upon request by the instructor. By the end of the course, students should be able to observe, interpret, and represent, in a conscious and personal way, the formal and visual elements specific to the field of fashion.

Course Program
The teaching aims to give the useful elements to represent and communicate both cultural reference scenarios typical of the fashion industry and design ideas, through learning traditional and digital, innovative and integrated graphic methodologies and techniques.
The student must know and control the geometric codes that allow for the conscious representation of existing and imagined shapes and figures. He must know how to handle the tools that allow their manipulation by deepening their characteristics, formal, dimensional, geometric, proportional and perceptual. On the one hand, an attempt will be made to enable the student to acquire a sure manual ability in the use of the simplest and most direct graphic techniques through an intense exercise of freehand drawing, line drawing, and with special attention to the chromatic aspects and representation of color on the other hand, an effort will be made to support this course through the fundamental notions related to the fundamentals of the geometry of representation.
This first part of the Drawing Theory and Techniques course is therefore intended to train all these skills, and within this framework there is also the realization of a number of training experiences, which correspond to as many elaborates and testify to the achievement of the objectives set by the course.

Each lesson will be divided into two parts: a theoretical section and a practical one. The practical laboratory component will focus on applying the topics covered during the first part in a personal and creative way.

Attendance is not mandatory; however, as this is a practical course, regular participation is strongly recommended.

Both the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and the development of each student’s individual creative project will be evaluated. Another key component of the course will be the creation of a personal sketchbook.

Students are asked to summarize the main stages and key aspects of the career of the chosen artist or fashion designer.
