Objectives

This course is designed to provide students with the structural categories for the understanding of making art in ancient Greek and Roman culture. The aim of the course is to provide the critical tools for the historical framing of artistic production in Greek culture and in the Roman Empire, in strict reference to the social and historical context in which it was developed. Students will know the artistic resources and cultural heritage corresponding to the period studied, of tourist interest, suitable for professional use. This knowledge can be applied to the study of the territory and to the pedagogy of the historical artistic and archaeological heritage, developing the ability to formulate judgments by coordinating and contextualising the topics, making a correct use of the available bibliography, and being able to carry out research on the specific aspects of the disciplinary sector bound to tourism studies.
